![]() I was hearing the "beats" of nearly identical pitches combining as a superposition of their waveforms. With the AudioQuest, overtones caused low frequency oscillations of pitch amplitude, as two guitar vibrating within a few hertz of each other do. The bells would tinkle and have one overtone that was prominent, with the RadioShack, but they were separate tinkles. The second was Capella Gregoriana with "Chime Bells, Jingles." There is little question remaining in my mind that the AudioQuest transmits overtones far better than the RadioShack adapter. Again I thought I was hearing more overtones with the AudioQuest, for example more details in the Brazilian-style guitar playing, and the cymbals. The first was Yo-Yo Ma with "Chega De Saudade." The vocals and guitars, and Yo-Yo Ma's cello, were more interesting to listen to with the AudioQuest. Then I began listening to classical music. ![]() I began with a jazz guitar track featuring Jimmy Bruno and thought I heard more overtones with the AudioQuest. I went back and forth between the connectors about ten to fifteen times total. I'm using the 3.5 mm line-output socket of my new Cayin N3Pro DAP into a modest, low-power tube amp and small speakers (Decware Tiny Radials copies, home-built by my dad and me). The AudioQuest adapter arrived in the mail today. The RCA connectors on it show signs of wear. I don't know what connector metals it has, whether gold or copper. The RadioShack adapter on the left is old. Subreddit's theme is /r/Minimaluminiumalism.
